As we head into June with temperatures quickly rising, summer clothes are officially out and it’s really time to put away our chic spring coats and jackets. One challenge I always have with summer fashion is how to look ”not cheap” while showing more skin. With winter clothes, there are tons of layering options and much easier to look put together with long jackets, scarfs and boots. With summer, the vibes are more casual, we want to show more skin, and the clothes are, by default, more casual in style so it’s tougher to balance looking casual and still look put together. Below we compiled a few tips so you could look sexy and casual but not ”cheap“:
1. Incorporate Luxe Fabrics
One of the easiest ways to elevate your summer wardrobe is to opt for high-quality fabrics. Look for pieces made from silk, linen, satin or cotton blends. They don’t need to be expensive, but look for pieces that have a natural sheen and that gives off a luxurious vibe.

2. Pay Attention to Fit
Wearing clothes that fit well is essential to looking expensive. Don't be afraid to invest in a few key pieces that are tailored to your body. A well-fitted dress or pair of shorts can make a world of difference in how put-together you look.
3. Balance top and bottom
If you show more skin on top, you can always balance it by wearing long skirts or pants (and vice versa) so it doesn’t scream “trying too hard to be sexy.” Adding a structured blazer to a sexy top can also immediately give a more sophisticated vibe. Fashion is all about balance.

4. Accessorize Strategically
Accessories are another way to add a touch of luxury to your summer outfits. Opt for classic pieces like a statement necklace or high-end sunglasses. Adding a nice belt with gold accents to a pair of shorts can do wonders to how put together you look.
5. Embrace Monochrome Looks
Monochromatic outfits are another way to create an expensive look. Black and whites will always be safe options. Stick to a neutral color palette and mix and match different shades within the same color family. This creates a sophisticated vibe that exudes confidence.
6. Don't Forget About Details
The little things can make a big difference. Pay attention to details like your shoes, nails, and hair. Invest in a good pedicure and manicure, wear comfortable yet stylish shoes, and opt for a sleek hairstyle to complete your look.
At the end of the day, ladies should wear however they like and there should not be any pressure or
”obligation” to look a certain way. And if looking casual and showing as much skin as you can make you happy, do it your way! But if you goal is to look put together even with casual summer clothes, this list should be a helpful starting point when you shop for clothes for the summer season.
